Catherine White FDA MBACP
Counsellor & Psychotherapist
Making the initial step and asking for support or guidance via therapy is often the hardest step and the process of visiting a therapist for the first time can cause much anxiety and fear.
This is a perfectly normal way to feel when entering the unknown. You may feel uncertain about what actually happens in a therapy session.
My name is Cathie and I hope that I can help alleviate some of your anxiety.
If you would like to come and see me the first session is a chance for us to meet and explore you and your life experiences. The session will last 1 hour and also gives us a chance to see if we can make a connection. The sessions are your space and so it is important that you feel comfortable and that trust can be developed with me.
As your therapist it is not my role to tell you what to do but I can help you explore yourself, your life experiences and any patterns that occur. This will aid you in gaining a deeper self awareness and understanding of yourself, which we all need to live happier and more fulfilled lives.
I work to an integrative model, which incorporates many different techniques and theories. Using this model allows me the freedom to tailor the therapy to each individuals needs. It is my belief that it is the relationships and experiences within them, from our childhood to the present, that hold the key to happiness and understanding. These relationships form who we are and with exploration into oneself we can discover how these experiences translate themselves into our lives today.
